A process for the isolation of the companion alkaloids of vinca minor l. and medicaments

The secondary alkaloids from Vinca minor (periwinkle) which are hypotensives and cerebral-vascular dilators are separated from vincamine and vincine by crystallising the latter out of a propanol soln. of the total alkaloids, forming a complex by the addn. of tartaric acid to the dil. filtrate, eliminating by-products with organic solvents and isolating the product by adjusting the pH to 8.0-9.0 with alkali.
