The apparatus is used especially to determined the rate of emission of harmful gaseous substances in the air. The reaction body is designed as a perpendicular cylinder closed at its lower end by a hemispherical dome. The body is connected to a distributor head to which such a quantity of absorption solution is constantly supplied that the entire surface of the cylinder is coated with a liquid film of the absorption solution. Under the reaction body ther can be a funnel to catch the absorption solution constantly dripping from the hemispherical dome. The funnel can be placed on a vessel connected to a pump whose delivery line is joined to the distributor head.
