The blades are folded longitudinally along the airscrew driving shaft at rest. The airscrew is used with starting or flying auxiliary engines in gliders, and reduces air resistance on gliding. The two blades are hinged on an adjusting mechanism which can be operated by the pilot. The blades are swung back into pockets which can be subsequently covered. Engine cooling air inlets can be used as stowing pockets for the blades. The blade actuating mechanism consists of a toggle lever system for each blade, and is connected to a sprung actuating lever in the pilot cabin.
