The construction of transmitter permits measurement of points which are difficult to gain access to directly or which are located so as to be screened by objects from a wave receiver position, Fig. 7, (not shown). The invention is described as having particular application for determining dimensions in a scale model of a marine engine room or a land building or structure Fig. 4, (not shown).
