and/or Ba-contng. Al-, Al-Si-, Si- and Mg alloys are prepd. by alloying Li in Al-, Al-Si-, Si- and Mg melts and reacting these with Ba- and/or Sr cpds. at 30-40 degrees C. above the liquidus temp. of the Li-contng. melt, opt. with addn. of fluxes. The prods. are pre-alloys for refining Al-Si alloys and inoculating alloys for cast iron. Simple process allows good sepn. of end prods.
