The device weighs the infusion-liquid container and its contents as the infusion proceeds and uses the decrese in weight after a preselected quantity of liquid has been withdrawn to operate a switching process, esp. the closure of contacts causing a signal to be emitted. The flow to the patient is monitored in such a way that the emptying of the feed vessel can be signalled in good time to enable replacement by a full vessel before it is exhausted. Guide rods slide in guide collars fixed to a base or back plate and are cross-connected by a horizontal strut to form a carriage.
