An atomising burner in which a portion of the gases of combustion are freely recirculated to obtain soot-free combustion, has at its outlet, a system for producing a hollow cylindrical or slightly tapering air jet leaving the frame tube (1) at such speed and intensity that one outer (8) and at least one inner (9, 9') toroidal vortex forms outside and inside the jet respectively, the vortices rotating in opposite directions. Further means to protect the nozzle (4) from radiation consists of a partial air current branching out of the flame tube, and sweeping over the nozzle.
