The bearing, for the shaft of an electric motor, consists of a sintered-bronze sphere (10) fixed to the end of the shaft (3) and moving relative to a steel support (15, 16) which is attached to the motor bearing plate (7). The steel support consists of two sheets joined at one end and parting at the other to form a curved bearing surface for the sphere. The joined end is clamped between a step in the bearing plate and a clamping ring (22). The end of the shaft rests against a smooth plate (24) over the inside and surface of the bearing plate. The bearings at each end of the shaft are identical.
