Circular or hexagonal-sectioned straight-tube heat-exchanger - with tube nests in hexagonal grid with mutually offset bases

The heat-exchanger incorporates a number of straight tubes combined into tube nests, inside an outer conducting sleeve, and running parallel to its central axis, each nest being surrounded by an inner conducting sleeve which is open on both sides, and with the tubes of each nest connected to a tube base at both ends. The nests with their tube bases and inner sleeves form boxes, arranged in a hexagonal grid in plan. On one side of the nests or on both sides, the tube bases are arranged in three or more different planes vertically to the heat-exchanger's axis, so that adjacent bases are mutually displaced leaving a very small intervening space between the tube bases of one box and the inner sleeve of the next box. The heat-exchanger may be mounted in a vertical setting and suspended on a carrier frame, by means of thermal sleeves fixed to the tubes.
