Dump for toxic wastes, esp. poisonous residues - comprising chemically resistant sealed plastic envelope formed in deep pit

For dumping environmentally harmful, esp. poisonous wastes, acid residues, etc., a pit is excavated and lined all round with a sheet of thermoplastic material as resistant as possible to chemical action. The bottom of the lining is covered with a deep layer of absorbent material such as dried clay, washed sand, etc., and the containers standing on it are buried in similar fashion. The lining is then sealed by welding a cover sheet to it and the remainder of the pit is filled with rubble, and the surface planted. Damage to the environment by the special rubbish deposited is avoided. The dumping may be close to place of origin.
