A hygiene ring for use by uncircumcised males has a body section manufactured from elastic material with a retention element (17, 23) of highly foldable type. In its simplest form the device has a slit cut around its circumference (12) which extends around at least part of the circumferential distance. The slit (12) is about twice as wide as its top zone as elsewhere. The section of the ring on the innermost side (13) is of wedge shape. Both the inner (13) and outer sections (14) of the ring are subdivided by radial slits (15).
