Bend for wideband transmission waveguide - symmetrical bend consists of straight and curved parts of different curvature

The bend portion of waveguide used for wideband transmission in which E11 & H12 modes are superimposed on H01 mode waves, may consist of a short straight portion between two short bends, the whole region of the bend being symmetrical about the line which bisects the angle which subtends the bend. In an alternative design, the bend consists of a sharper bend portion between two portions of very small curvature, the whole being similarly symmetrical. The bend angle may be subdivided into two outer small angles and an inner larger angle. Further alternatives are given.
