The shower comprises a basic perpendicular rectangular guide rail (1) which is fastened at the top and bottom to the wall wherein a slide member (2) moves up and down on this guide by means of a cable (3) and counter weight (4). A divided nozzle ring (7) which is provided on the inside with a downwardly inclined nozzle is connected at one end via a flexible hose (11) to the water supply and is swivel mounted as a screw winding in the slide member (2) with its horizontal ends (7a, 7b) one above the other, the other end being provided with a detachable closure (10). The freely supporting nozzle ring can thus automatically be swivelled from a horizontal position into an inclined position as soon as it comes under stress so that there is not danger of breakage caused by excessive load.
