Railway-line levelling and aligning machine and track tamper - runs on rails and incorporates direction-gauge and calculator

The machine aligns the rails by means of a calculator which compares the actual and the required figure for the horizontal angle, obtained by means of the gauge which is positioned at a constant distance between the two rail top-edges. The gauge is vertical to the horizontal plane over the transverse axis passing through the aligning device in the middle of the inside edge of the two rail-heads. The machine enables the rails to be levelled in a lengthwise and transverse direction. The chassis of the tamping machine is tipped by a super-elevating cylinder. Tongue -like devices grip the rails which are kept apart by means of spacer pieces. The calculator is equipped with receiving, transmitting and recording devices and with electrical/hydraulic control valves.
