Liq. filter has pipe fixed into its housing by means of a conical section construction formed from a lip around the inlet (or outlet) hole so as to project into the filter with reducing dia. Into this is pushed the pipe or tube, being of somewhat greater dia. than the constriction which consequently bites into it giving an adequate seal and prevents its withdrawal by the barbed hook effect. The lip around the opening is circular and is located centrally on the filter axis. The lip is shaped from the filter housing as one piece or as a part of it. The tube pushed into it should be elastic, esp. polyamide. For use with hydraulic installations where often the filter must be connected to the base of an oil reservoir by a line. This allows a good seal to be made without the use of tools or extra sealing matls. merely by pushing in the line.
