The dispenser contains a continuous length of individual tissues, connected at the front ends via tear-lines. It has a container with a housing for the tissues, and a closure. A unit forms a dispensing aperture, and the individual tissues are automatically separated, from the length, when passing through it. The unit consists of a slot and an associated elastic flap. When a tissue is pulled through the slot, the flap applies a friction force onto the length, which is larger than the force, necessary to separate neighbouring tissues. The dispensing aperture is covered by an easily removeable lid, hinged to the container. The flap is formed as an integral part of the closure. The closure has a raised part, surrounded by a sealing lip, and containing the slot.
