New N-oxazolidone gp.-contg. polymers (A) contain structural units having general formula (II) (where R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl; R1 is H or alkyl; R2 is H, COOX, CONH2, or -CO-NCH2CH2OCRR and X is H, metal cation, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl). (A) are used for moulded articles, coatings and adhesives, opt. in blends with other plastics; finishing compsns. for paper and textiles; copolymers of acrylates, contg. 2-20 wt. % (I) and 2-10 wt. % OH gp.-contg. monomers may be used as corrosion inhibitors or for wet-strengthening. Copolymers contg. OH, NH2, COOH gps. in addn. to oxazolidine side gps. can be crosslinked by heat and light and form reactive lacquers.
