Wide-radius-curve high-speed railway junction points - have fixed-mounting tongues and movable elastically bending stock-rail sections

The system is designed for use on railways carrying very high-speed traffic, where curves in junction points must be very gradual and on a wide radius, normally calling for long slender tongues which cannot easily be made sufficiently stab le, where a control mechanism moves tongues and stock-rails from a close-fitting to a diverging setting and vice-versa. Here the tongues (10, 11) are on fixed mountings and the stock-rails have movable sections (12, 13) in the vicinity of the tongues, which are made to bend outwards elasticity under the action of the control mechanism, so as to fit against the tongues or move away from them. The bending sections of the stock-rails may be connected by cross-struts.
