Stacking equipment includes a manipulating carriage moved by a drive on rails and fitted with a vertically movable beam provided with a suction lifter. The manipulating carriage is constructed as a portal carriage (2) with a top member (8) and two side members (9) enclosing a free inner space (10). On the top member (8) is mounted the drive of the carriage and the side members (9) are joined together by lifting beam (6). Through the free inner space of the portal carriage (2) can move a second manipulating carriage (3) which is supported and guided either by rails of the first cariage or by separate rails. Both carriages are alternatively driven along the rails.
