摘要
Fibres and filaments of polyphenylene-1, 3, 4-oxadiazole, co-polyoxadiazole or aromatic polyoxadiazole hydrazide, contain repeating units of formula (I): and 10-0 (5) mole % of repeating units of formula: -Ar-CONHNHCO- (where Ar is a m-phenylene, p-phenylene or 4, 4'-diphenyl sulphonyl gp. opt. substd. by Cl or Br); and have inherent viscosity (at 30 degrees C, using 0.5g polymer in 100cm3 100% H2SO4 of =3, a thread strength of =12gd-1, and an initial modulus of =300gd-1. The polymer is extruded as a gelatinous mass, solid at room temp., contg. 15(20) wt. % polymer and is not 85 (80) wt. % conc. H2SO4 (100%) (pref.) oleum or chlorosulphonic acid, at 50-200 degrees C, the filament passed through air and coagulated in a bath of N-alkyl acid amide. The fibres may be used in rubber tyres, and the threads have increased brilliance. The spinning compsn. and pptn. bath maybe at different temps. The rate of spinning may be 30-50m/min., of 4-10m/min in the usual wet-spinning process. There is less degradation of the polymer chains than with a spinning head immersed in the coagulant bath.
