The air cushion vehicle has vacuum equipment (3, 64, 66) for locating the workpieces (11) on the air cushion vehicle (14) and with vacuum equipment (36, 96, 98, 40, 60, 102) for securing the air cushion vehicle (14) to the transport track (92). The air cushion vehicle (14) is fitted in a housing (16) with a driving aggregate (28) to which is coupled a blower (38) and a vacuum pump (36). the driving aggregate (28) is a combustion engine which is coupled to the blower (38) and the vacuum pump (36) by means of couplings (34). In the bottom (18) of the housing (16) are positioned holders (46) for discs (44) to which along their edge are attached circular membranes (52). Between the discs (44) and the membranes (52) is provided a space (54) which is connected by openings (58) in the membranes (52) to the atmosphere.
