Process for the prepn. of dibasic lead stearate complexes (I) of m.pt. 70-160 degrees C. comprises reacting stoichiometric amts. of lead oxide and molten stearic acid (calculated on the dibasic lead stearate) with addition of 0.5-25% of 1-11C aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acids or their anhydrides or ammonium salts and in the absence of water and organic solvents.
