The suction head has an asymmetric construction so as to produce zones of different stiffness wherein a ring (2) for supporting the tilt movement is attached beneath the actual suction head. The suction head is pressed down so that the support ring rests on the supporting surface and the underpressure is reduced beneath the suction head. The suction head can then be removed by slightly tilting it to the side having the longer extension. The foot or base of the suction head can be provided with suitably shaped retaining members for glasses, or other household objects. The suction head resists being pulled off the wall by these objects.
