The base A of the bookshelf is provided with a longitudinal groove which acts as a track for the profiled book ends B which are designed to move along the shelf and are based on a kind of carriage. A flat rubber notch can be provided in the centre of the groove base to act as a stop for the slide carriage of the book ends. The bookshelf can be free-standing or suspended from the wall.
