The invention is an extension of the method of correcting the tooth form of a pair of mating gears by increasing the dedendum of one gear with a corresponding reduction in the dedendum of the other gear. With the involute tooth form this can be done by feeding the gear cutter in more deeply in the one gear and less deeply in the other gear. The invention proposes a variable amount of correction across the width of the gear so that the gear wheel (1) has a conical periphery. The mating gear (2) is corrected in the opposite direction. If both wheels are corrected in the same direction, they can be used as bevel gears (2) and (3).
