Centrifugal pump with discharge guide vanes - has cylindrical bars at inlet to guide vanes to eliminate stalling

The pump has a rotating impeller with radial curved profiled blades. There is a stationary ring which carries stationary guide vanes (2) projecting round the periphery of the impeller so that liquid discharged from the impeller blade tips flows in the profiled passage between the stationary guide vanes where its kinetic head is converted into static head. Small rods or cylindrical bars (3) placed transversely across the flow passages at the inlet side of the stationary guide vanes (2) modify the flow pattern at low throughputs so as to produce a more even operating characteristic and eliminate the stall point thus enabling the pump to work efficiently at low loads.
