Cladding layer with chippings embedded in concrete - fibre reinforced concrete and chippings compacted in mould

A decorative cladding layer for walls of buildings, consists of a base layer of fibre glass reinforced concrete, to which is applied a binding layer of sand and concrete without reinforcing threads, and in which is embedded a finishing layer of natural stone or marble chippings. In this method, the outer concrete particles are washed away from the projecting parts of the chippings. The finishing layer is applied to the base layer while inside a mould, and then compacted so as to obtain a good binding action. Rollers may be used for this compacting. Afterwards, heat can be applied to accelerate the setting of the concrete. The finishing layer can be applied in successive layers and excess material removed during or after hardening.
