The capacitor (2) moves up and down in an insulating guiding element (1) between two end positions; in its first position the capacitor is connected through contacts (3-5) in the guiding element by one electrode to the h.v. generator (6), and it is connected to earth; by the other contact. In the second position the electrode which was in the first position connected to the generator is now connected to the tested object (9), and the other electrode is connected with the h.v. generator. The capacitor is moved between its two end positions by a mechanical drive.
