Polyurethane coating compsn. for plastics - for prodn. of imitation leather surface, pipe coatings, toys etc.

A process and a compsn. are claimed for coating plastic materials using a compsn. contg. 8-12 wt. % linear polyurethane, 50 wt. % low b.pt. ester, 8-12 wt. % linear polyurethane, 50 wt. % low b.pt. ester, 8-12 wt. % ketone and 30 wt. % chlorinated hydrocarbon. Used for prodn. of imitation leather and coating heating pipes, toys, buttons, buckles, etc. The coating has strong adhesion, is flame resistant and physiologically harmless. Pref. compsns contain 10-15 wt. % of a cpd. which can release NH3 at flame temp., pref. cpd. being diammonium phosphate. The compsn. also contains 3-8 wt. % colouring pigments. For coating rigid substrates the compsn. contains up to 20 wt. % hardener and for flexible substrates up to 4 wt. % hardener.
