The device is for production of chippings of material fed into it, partic. from previously comminuted wood. A cutter or knife ring has knife or cutting edges mounted on its inner circumference. A paddle wheel mounted inside the cutter ring is used for distribution and transport of the material to be cut up to the cutter rings. The axial intermediate space of the paddle wheel is the same as the axial intermediate space of the knife or cutter ring. The device is partic. for comminuting wood particles for incorporation into composite boards or for filling materials.
