A device for securing panels, with through-passage holes in them, is a spreader dowel plug, or other anchoring component, with an extension socket, and an anchoring screw for insertion, the panels being held between stops in the sockets. The inner stop (7) for the side (5a) of the panel (5) facing the wall is in the form of a radially projecting ledge on the outside of the extension socket (3). The part (9) of this socket passing through the panel can be compressed crossways, at least to the extent by which the inner stop overlaps the edge (10) of the through-passage hole (6) in the functional position relative to the direction of compression. Panels can be firmly held for adjustment and then securely fixed.
