The components are of the industrial plants are known items such as valves, pumps, motors, switches and controllers; and at least some of the symbols representing these components are accompanied by signalling lamps, switches, and meters. The mimic panel is of a sandwichlike construction and has at least one base plate, a perforated cover and there is a transparent foil which is printed with a stylised diagram of the plant layout. The base plate is made of an easily separated elastic material, e.g. "STYROPHOAM" (RTM) or the like; signalling and switching means are held in the plate by pressing them into its holes.
