The flush mounted electric installation element, such as a switch socket etc. has outward spreading clamping hooks (18) to bite into the sides of the hole in the wall or floor. These spreader hooks form an integral part of the flush mounted front plate (11) of the installation element. Screws recessed into the front plate act on one side of the spreader hooks such that the latter are force outwards as the screws are screwed home. The electric component system itself is mounted inside an insulating housing seated in a recess between the spreader hooks. The hooks are interconnected by a bridge (22) which is U-shaped.
