Carding assembly has toothed roll co-operating with card roll - to remove trash from fibre lap during carding

A carding assembly comprises a main cord roll onto which a fibre lap is fed by a feed roll assembly, carding of the lap being effected by the cooperation of card worker plates and the main card roll and the card lap being removed from the main card roll by a doffing roll cooperating with the surface of the main card roll in a toothed trash removal roll (e.g. covered in card cloth) which acts to remove trash from the lap on the surface of the main card roll and feed it to an exhaust. Different kinds of trash (e.g. dirt, knotted fibres) can be removed effectively from laps of a variety of different kins of fibres.
