Safety valve for high pressure hydraulic system - automatically shuts off flow in event of pipe fracture

The safety valve (1) consists of a cylindrical body (2) provided with an external screw thread (3). Six equally spaced blind holes (5) are drilled from one end and intersect an annular recess (7) cut into the other end. A guide rod (9) in the central hole (8) is rivetted into the end (4) of the body and carries a spring (11) which normally keeps the valve plate (10) against the locknuts (12). When the valve (1) is screwed into a pipe or into the body of a hydraulic component the hydraulic fluid flows in the direction of the arrow (P) through the open valve. In the event of a sudden pressure drop the pressure difference across the valve closes it and prevents leakage.
