Remote control shut-off pipeline valve - esp. for safety valve for automatic actuation by pipe fracture

The pipeline valve has a spherical housing with a matching spherical valve with a through bore which is in line with the flow when the valve is open. A hydropneumatic actuator is linked to the valve stub shaft. The valve ball is sealed by inflatable seals. The actuator is connected through electromagnetic valves to a hydro-pneumatic pressure reservoir. In the event of a pipe line fracture, an electric signal energises the electromagnetic valves which in turn control the actuator closing the main valve. At the same time the seals are deflated to reduce the valve closing force.
