Small plant for producing heat and electricity comprises one or more gas Otto engines, diesel engines or turbine-generator assemblies, one or more heat exchangers with secondary gas or oil heating means, one or more heat storage means, and monitoring means. These elements are arranged to provide an airtight chamber in which are disposed the turbine-generator assemblies. Pref. the heat exchangers and heat storage means are coated on the inside of the chamber with heat- and sound-insulating material.
