Timber cutting and stacking - transports partial stacks of timber transverse to their long direction and pushes separate stacks onto platform(s)

The stacking process starts by cutting through a stack of plates in longitudinal or transverse direction, in order to form adjacent partial timber stacks. The rows of partial stacks are transported by a conveyor with increasing speed in a direction across their longitudinal axes, so as to form increased spacings between the individual partial stacks. Then the latter are pushed, transversely to their transport direction, onto a platform which can be lowered to a depth corresponding to the height of an already deposited stack. Preferably separate platform are provided for stacks of different lengths of timber. Two conveyors may be used, the second one being of angled configuration.
