Chemical sewage treatment - by converting chemicals to gaseous phase and finely distributing as aerosol bubbles

In a chemical treatment of the effluents in municipal sewage plant or neutralization installations, the chemicals are dissolved, if solid, and atomized in a gas or aerosol stream. If gaseous, they are introduced neat or with a carrier gas into a distributor where they are uniformly distributed over the effluents as gas bubbles. The large phase contact area between bubbles and fluid greatly intensifies the mass exchange. The large difference in specific gravity between gas and liquid enables large volumina to be treated by the bubbles in a short time. The feed rate can be easily controlled by monitoring the pH value or the chlorine concentration.
