The conveyor comprises an endless link belt running over rollers, and hose bottom run is subjected to a vacuum causing the items handled to adhere to it. The belt consists of a steel link chain (3) with protruding lugs (5), and whose sleeves (4) bear against a beam (6) on one side and a pipe (7) on the other, the latter supplied from the vacuum source. There is an opening (9) inthe underside of the pipe, extending for a distance equal to the chain pitch, and the lugs extend past the pipe sides for a minimum distance, sufficient to prevent the items handled from rubbing against the pipe.
