The subject is a pre-stressed reinforced-concrete nuclear reactor tank or container, where the cylindrical lengthways pre-stressing is normally to be effected in stress channels, and where there are openings for the heat-exchangers in the reactor vessel only in the cover, centrally and on the periphery. Here the cylinder sheat is constructed only to the extent that it is needed for pressure transfer of interior pressure onto the stress members, during the stressing process. The annular stress members and also the lengthways ones lie freely exposed during the stressing process, and are normally concreted in after this is over, making it unnecessary to carry out laborious pressing out of channels to effect cohesion. Heat-exchangers can be held in through openings in the base periphery, as well as through cover openings, so that they continue to form a protective apron relative to the reactor core, reducing heat and radiation effect and promoting better use of the space.
