Appts. is used for the removal of brine from a brine-producer for regenerating water softeners. with a dip pipe, in which (i) the brine removal takes place via U-shaped dip pipe, the U-bend of which is produced from a flexible pipe connected to inflexible pipe branches one of which carries a suction opening, (ii) the pipe branches can be fixed to one another at selected positions by a clamping and/or arresting device. In contrast to the usual brine producers in which the level of the brine is float controlled and therefore only a relatively small change of level accompanies a fairly large withdrawal of brine, more accurate control of the brine quantity removed can be obtd. with stepwise adjustment over a wide range of brine volume.
