Rotating drum has electrical drive as an integral unit, the rotor being directly connected to an extension of the drum while the central stator is attached to the drum mounting. The rotor is mounted to the inner side of the drum extension, this being of cylindrical shape at least in the portion to which the rotor is attached. It can have the same dia. as the drum. or have a smaller dia. with a conical reducing piece or have a larger dia. with a conical adaptor from small to large. The stator is mounted on a hub which extends into the extension and which is firmly attached to the mounting. The width of the motor section can be varied for different power loadings. For use on drum mills such as pebble mills. The use of integral electrical drives is known but has been limited to drives of the same dia. as the drum. The invention claimed extends this principle by using a single size of drive for different drum sizes.
