Inertial droplet separator for gas streams - using corrugated baffles with separation chambers having outlet flow

Inertial droplet separator has a lattice of flow channels formed between corrugated plates with phase separation chambers mounted at intervals along the plates, gas flow being at right angles to the waves in the plates. A slug of idsentrained liquid forms on the plates and this is drawn into the separation chambers by means of partial gas flow through them. At least some of the separation chambers have outlets to permit this entrainment effect. These may be slots or holes, or rows of slots or holes in the rear wall of the phase separation chamber which are in connection with a portion of the flow channel in a lower pressure area. Used for disentraining liquid droplets from gas streams. The use of inertia chambers on corrugated or chevron type baffles is known. By allowing a small gas flow through these the potential backing on the separator is improved.
