The cell has a generating unit for generating a magnetic field in a measuring chamber (4). A pair of pole bodies (16, 17) projects from opposite sides of the cell to the measuring chamber and extends between mutually facing inner ends of the chamber. An inlet for gas flow is arranged at closed end of a slot (21) of a pole body and an outlet for gas flow is arranged at closed end of slot (22) of another pole body. Openings (25, 26) of the inlet and the outlet are formed such that uniform gas flow between the inlet and the outlet is permitted in a flow chamber (27). An independent claim is also included for a measuring device.
