Planet gear with chain-driven auxiliary planet wheels - produces indexing motion for rotary table

The indexing table which is used for a manufacturing process is driven by an epicyclic gear. The sun wheel (4) and the planet wheel carrier (3) can rotate relative to one another. Two pneumatic brakes are provided to stop either the sun wheel or the planet wheel carrier (3). Equally-spaced planet wheel shafts (8) carry auxiliary pulleys or chain wheels in a common plane. They are all linked by a belt or chain drive which includes a motor and a tensioning element. By alternative stopping of the two brakes (17, 18) the components on the index table are moved from one station to the next.
