The sieve may be vibrating or stationary, above which is a rotating conveyor with tines. The tines project into the mixture of grain and straw between the sieve and the conveyor and oscillate crosswise to the rotational direction of the tined conveyor. The conveyor consists of continuous rotating chains or elastic belts in which the tines are axially fixed and move crosswise. The tines run in a track with their ends facing towards or away from the sieve. In that underneath part of the track facing the sieve, the rotational path of the conveyor is undulating whereas above it, where the conveyor turns round, it is straight.
