The thermal conductivity and specific heat determination method uses a hollow cylinder surrounded by the medium under investigation. Two measuring probes placed in the medium at different radii from the tube centre measure the temperature distribution. The probes are coupled to a recording and indication apparatus which can represent the thermal conductivity in digital or analogue form. The probes can be of the thermoelement or resistance thermometer type. An electric heater element such as a thermistor fed from a controlled current supply provides the heating source for the centre of the cylinder.
