Oil tank level monitoring - involves use of flow-meter pulse generator and digital counter for remote level display

A device is used for precisely monitoring the level in central heating oil tanks(4) in the tank pipe (1). The flow meter (4) is connected to an electric pulse generator (5) whose output pulses provide a measure of the oil flow, and are recorded by a pulse counter remote from the tank. The axle (8) of the flow meter (4) carries a fan wheel (9) with iron end pieces (10) around its circumference. As the wheel rotates the end pieces (10) activate the induction coil (5) which produces the pulses at the counter. For industrial use radio transmission of the information might be applicable.
