The crane is particularly of the hydraulic type for mounting on lorries, having an overload protection device actuated by the slewing column or th" jib. The device consists of a release (14, 15) on column or jib, and an independent micro-switch (12) connected to a solenoid valve in the hydraulic system. There can be an actuating pin (15) solidly fixed to the column or jib, and in the form of an adjusting screw, and against the end of which a transmission lever bears (17) the press-button of the micro-switch lying in the path of the lever. The switch can be mounted on the end of a bar (11) parallel to the column.
